I wrote a story…….
“But we’ve got the Oozies under control and Kuget III has taken the President of Wollor hostage.” said mom “What does the Captain mean by ‘Aliens, come aboard, the time has come’? The time for the attack or the time for leaving? And what are we supposed to board?”
“Maybe,” said dad “It’s the Wollorenians come to fight against Kuget III and he needs help. So it’s the time to go and help him? But then again, the Captain could handle them single-handedly. In fact, I could handle them single-handedly, too. Just need some Anti-Wollor Space Dust and you’re done!”
“What are we supposed to do? The Captain will get really angry if we don’t follow orders!” said mom
“Anyway,” said dad “Be quiet about that, now. Peter will be up in a minute.”
I woke up in the morning to hear this strange conversation between my parents.
Oozies? Wollor? SPACE DUST? What was this nonsense my parents were talking about? Maybe it was just a dream? Oh yes, of course. It was just a dream. Just a dream…
As I looked at the clock on my bedside table I saw that I was late for school. I ran down the stairs, two at a time as usual.
When I went to the kitchen my parents stopped their conversation abruptly and started to talk about the economic situation in Mongolia. Strange.
“Peter,” mom called “Breakfast is on the table and your lunch is on the countertop. Your father and I will be going out for the day so Katrina is coming to look after you in the evening.”
I groaned. Very, very loudly. Katrina was my nineteen year old baby-sitter and also the biggest pest in the world.
“You can order in a pizza for dinner, if we’re not back by then.” mom continued “Don’t forget to study for that history test tomorrow.”
“Where are you going mom?” I asked, as I ate my egg, sunny side up, with tea and toast.
Mom hesitated. “Err… we’re going to …. the doctor’s office.” Suspicious. I decided to pretend that I believed the lie.
I nearly missed the bus that day. The bus was so quiet I could hear the ticking of my watch. “Why?” I thought “Why is this day turning out to be so weird?” The bus was never quiet. .
The school day passed rather uneventfully till about twelve o’ clock. After that everyone’s eyes became slightly glassy and their voices a little nasal. Everyone went slightly mad, too. The teachers didn’t teach. She looked like she was going to be sick, because she turned slightly green. Everyone else turned a delicate shade of green, too. I thought it was because of that weird smell in the room. And all the other students started talking about the silliest things imaginable.
“Joseph! How many legs does a dog have?”
“Six, usually. Why don’t you count and see?”
“Is water always wet? Always?”
“Pretty sure it is, Jennifer.”
“What if you dry it?”
“Then it’s dry, of course!”
“Excuse me, Mrs. Rogers, I have a question.”
“Yes, Mary-Ann?”
“Do we breathe while sleeping?”
“Don’t ask silly questions, Mary-Ann, everyone knows we don’t! You should be put back into the kindergarten, you stupid child!”
WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYBODY TODAY?!?
Then just when the bell rang, I realized the horrible truth. I didn’t believe it at first. I overheard a conversation between my two worst enemies.
“That stupid Peter Wallman. After twelve whole years he doesn’t realize he’s the only human on earth.”
“Yeah, I know! What a nut!”
“I mean, all of us aliens staring him in the face and he doesn’t even realize it!”
“Well, I can’t wait till we attack him! What time is the attack again? Seven-thirty? I am SO excited!”
WHAT? Attack? On me? Aliens? Only human on earth? ME? This had got to be some sort of a joke. But that conversation between my parents…
Seven-thirty? But that was in four hours. “I’ve got to hide somewhere!” I thought “But where? Aliens will probably be able to find me in a minute!”
The hours raced by. I was hiding up on a tree in the darkest, most empty part of town. I checked my watch. It was seven-thirty exactly. Suddenly, I heard noises. Weird, eerie noises. Very…. inhuman noises. Just then, I saw them. Thousands and thousands of slimy green aliens with weird tentacles and feelers all over them. They were all heading towards…. me.
“Get away! What do you want from me?” I screamed
“We want YOU!” they said in weird, computerized voices.
“WHY?” I shouted “I never harmed you! Why do you want me?”
“You didn’t do anything to us, boy. We want to rid the universe of humans.” they answered, “We want the whole universe to ourselves. We have put up with you for twelve whole years thinking that you would realize we were aliens and then we could get rid of you. Just to see how smart you were. But you were too stupid, human. Peter, prepare to die.”
“AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGHH!!!” I screamed “SAVE ME!!!”
The aliens advanced and I was bound in invisible ropes, unable to escape. The leader of the aliens, the tallest and slimiest, was holding some sort of weird gun. Some invisible force pushed me off the tree and I fell fifteen feet below, hurting my head and neck badly. I couldn’t see properly… everything was turning black… and the aliens were coming closer…closer…closer…
“NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!”
I woke up with a jolt… my bed sheet damp with sweat…
I walked into the kitchen on shaky legs…only to hear-
“But we’ve got the Oozies under control and Kuget III has taken the President of ……..”
And I froze.
